Planning Permission 29/11/08 Great News! Bexley Council have approved the plans for our new practice building, which we hope to build during the latter half of 2009, financial crisis permitting. The new building is to be right next door to our existing site but will provide twice as much space. Let's hope it gets built. |

Damon Appliance Results 14/11/08 Here at Chapel Road we are starting to see cases finish with the amazing Damon Brace and the results are ....amazing. I conclude that the hype is generally justified and can see why this new appliance is becoming the brace of choice for thinking Orthodontists worldwide. Just look at the result opposite achieved in a 12 year old boy, in just 8 months. I really am enjoying using all the new technology that is available these days. There is a saying that "the half life of orthodontic knowledge is 4 years" I know what they mean. Very little that I do now is the same as it was 5 years ago. Onwards and upwards.

Damon Congress 2008 13/10/08 I just got back from the European Damon Congress in Rome. What a fantastic few days. 1,400 of the most up-to-date Orthodontists in Europe, meeting to hear about developments in the world's most advanced brace system. A lovely trip but what does this mean for our patients at Chapel Road? It means we offer you the very best and most advanced Orthodontic treatment available anywhere. And it's getting better all the time. Less and less need for extractions and much better looking faces after treatment - the famous Damon Smile.

What a result 5/9/08 Pre-wedding Orthodontics is becoming very popular these days. Hardly a week goes by without the question "Can you straighten my teeth by the wedding?" Yes we can. We are now using the fastest and most efficient modern appliances and the results can be truly breathtaking, as the result on the right shows! And here's a reassuring promise - if we're not quite finished, the brace will be removed for your big day and replaced later. One great thing about our techniques is that the front teeth straighten first. So even if we do have to remove the brace in a case that may be uncompleted at the back, you'll still look great on the day! It's a real privilege to be able to help in such a good cause - I love doing these cases. |

A Lovely Thank You 8/8/08 Every now and again we receive a thank you that really makes it all worthwhile. And this is one of the nicest I've ever had. It's from a mother of four children - all of whom I've treated over the years and she's delighted with the results in all of them!

New Surgery 4/08/08 We took advantage of my recent week's absence to completely gut and refurbish Surgery One here at sunny Chapel Road. The finishing touches are now being applied - isn't it astonishing how these jobs always take longer than you expected. We are all thrilled with the result - the latest equipment, to help us use the most modern braces, to do the best possible work for our patients! More anon |

An Old Quote and the NHS 8/07/08 Every now and again you come across a really good quotation that speaks more than the sum of its words. Often the old ones are the best and so it is with the quotation opposite. These days, I often find myself listening to moans and groans from patients about NHS dentistry - general dentistry, not us thank goodness. Following the Government's reforms of April 2006, British dentistry is splitting into two camps - Private practices, offering (I hope) a quality product and NHS practices, staffed by rapidly changing foreign (often East European) Dentists, offering........................ So the quote opposite is appropriate indeed. |

The O2 Dome 11/5/08 Went to the O2 Dome for the first time last night - "Viva la Diva" - Kathryn Jenkins and Darcey Bussell - what a song and dance act - a Christmas present from my staff - lovely. The Dome is truly amazing. From where we were sitting, you could just about see the stage, which can't have been more than 2 miles away.

Apparently the Dome holds more people than the population of Canada, in a space the size of Mars. Having been there, I can believe it. |
